This beautiful room features a flat screen HD TV with cable channels, split-type air conditioning unit, high speed internet access, plush bedding, and a refreshing southern side exposure. The bathroom comes with rain shower heads and free toiletries. The room is good for three persons maximum of four with a complimentary breakfast of three.

OUR HISTORY
The owner’s intention was to convert this heritage home into a Barong and Philippine Fabric Museum. Barong is the traditional Philippine fabric made with pineapple or abaca fibers, some of which are woven with silk. Taal is well-known for these indigenous barongs.

Conservation began in the last quarter of 2019 and the home’s ultimate design and use was changed due to the world situation during the Covid pandemic years of 2020, up to the present. Tourism was at a standstill due to various mandated lockdowns, and museum visits were deemed as non-priority essentials by national government authorities. Thus, it was more prudent for the owners to develop it as a home or hotel annex, for better returns on their real estate investment, rather than depend on stringent local and national lockdown restrictions regarding museum re-openings.

THE ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS
The original structure was built in the Victorian era when colorful homes were part of Taal town’s streetscape. During this home’s recent restoration in the last quarter of 2019, the last pigments found on the wood and adobe were bright blue and yellow ochre, necessitating its revival. The main feature of this heritage home is the Durian Room, a superior deluxe room that offers the conveniences of modern amenities, plush bedding, a luxurious bathroom with rain shower heads, and a refreshing southern side exposure. The room is good for three persons, maximum of four, with a complimentary breakfast for three.
